Innovative Bicycle Treatments Web Seminar
On March 30th, The Downtown TMA hosted a web seminar on innovative bicycle treatments. The objective of the seminar was to share information on a wide variety of innovative treatments to accommodate bicycles. The seminar was sponsored by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and presented information included in the 2002 ITE Informational Report “Innovative Bicycle Treatments.” The seminar also presented a number of more recent bicycle design concepts. Topics covered included:
- Innovative bicycle treatments in use in the U.S. and abroad
- Bicycle lane and treatment paths
- Treatments for bicycles at intersections
- Bicycle sensitive detection and counters
- Bicycle signs
- Bicycle parking
- Bicycle bridges
- Advantages and disadvantages of particular bicycle treatments
- Available research conclusions on specific treatments
- Sources of additional information on specific treatments
Michael Ridgway, AICP, a principal with Fehr and Peers Transportation Consultants, was the presenter for the web seminar.
