June 4, 2003 This session will take a look at how other areas around the United States have explored alternative street design to support more modes of transportation and move more people efficiently and effectively. This is the first in a series of workshops by local organizations exploring the issues of street design and traffic engineering in order to move Atlanta to the forefront of livability and enhance our quality of life. This meeting is a special event designed to coincide with the normal ULI monthly program. The regular monthly program will take place from 7:30 - 9:30 and a break will be provided for those that may need to leave early. When: June 10, 7:30 am - 1:30 pm Where: Magnolia Hall, Piedmont Park, (see web site link for directions) Audience: Public Officials, Developers, Designers, Engineers, Fire Marshals, or anyone interested in Street Design and Walkability. Speakers: Michael Ronkin, PE with Oregon Department of Transportation; Mark Fenton, host of America's Walking; Walter Kulash, PE, a senior transportation engineer with Glatting Jackson; Charles Graves, the Commissioner of Planning and Community Development in the City of Atlanta; and Jere Wood, the mayor of the City of Roswell and the Chair of the Metropolitan Atlanta Mayors Association.
