Rail~Volution
is coming to Atlanta September 10-14, 2003. This national conference will
feature 60 workshops and numerous opportunities to visit local projects
that demonstrate livable communities built around transit services. Rail~Volution
will offer world-class expertise in a local setting and an opportunity
to hear success stories from around the country on making smart growth
work.
Atlanta will provide some unique insight and talent for this conference,
including
- the public health implications of the urban environment and physical
activity;
- our region’s innovative efforts with the Livable Centers Initiative
program;
- the creative work of private sector collaborations of Transportation
Management Associations and Community Improvement Districts.
Themes of the conference will include:
- creating livable communities;
- using partnerships effectively;
- finding the money;
- brewing a successful pot of Green TEA;
- fighting sprawl can mean losing weight;
- understanding the nuts and bolts of TOD;
- examining social, environmental and equity issues.
Conference Registration
Conference registrations made before August 14th are $350; after August
14th, the fee goes to $400. In addition to the conference registration
fee, there are some mobile workshops and symposia that require an extra
fee. Registration can be made via a

Scholarships are Available!
Rail~Volution
has scholarship assistance for many applicants who are transit activists
or who represent non-profit organizations. Locally, preference for scholarships
will be given to residents who are willing to provide lodging as a “home-stay
host.” Applications for scholarships must be made on the Rail~Volution
web site. The application deadline for scholarships is July 11. |
