For this three-day period in May, Woodruff Park will transform its traditional park environment into a sandy, beach oasis where spectators and fans will revel in Atlanta’s toughest, beachwear-clad competitors battling it out for the champion spot. “Sand volleyball is a great summertime tradition,” said Alan Richardson, regional marketing manager for Starbucks. “This summer we hope that everyone will take the time to enjoy the season and remember summer for its carefree days and fun activities.”
With 20 doubles round robin matches that will be seeded for a single elimination play-off, the tournament will feature non-stop action throughout the weekend. Volleyball Atlanta, Atlanta’s foremost volleyball authority, will organize and produce the tournament. Sponsors
Organizers The 4th Annual Downtown Neighborhood Festival and Tour of Lofts will also be presented the same weekend as the tournament. Held on Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 15th, 2005, the event will feature a tour of some of Downtown Atlanta’s most unique residential properties, including lofts, condominiums, live/work spaces and apartments. The Downtown Neighborhood Festival, which will be located along Broad, Walton, and Luckie Streets, will include live entertainment on two stages, an artist market, a children’s area, a beer garden and other activities designed to showcase Downtown Atlanta living.
