What is the First Thursdays Art Walk?
Turner First Thursdays Art Walk in Downtown Atlanta is a program developed
and promoted by Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement
District to bring citizens to the historical and cultural center of the
city and to highlight Atlanta’s creative artists. There are several
independent venues, serving as galleries that feature local, original
work. A map of the galleries can be acquired at any of the locations.
When does the Art Walk take place?
Turner First Thursdays Art Walk is free and takes place on the first Thursday
of each month from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Is there a cost to attend?
Turner First Thursdays Art Walk is free and open to the public.
What kind of art is featured on the Art Walk?
Each gallery independently curates its show and features local and national
original artwork. From the Museum of Design, in association with the Smithsonian
Institute to the Luckie Street Studios, there’s something to please
everyone at Turner First Thursdays Art Walk.
Besides art, what else is featured at the galleries?
Since each gallery is independently managed, the features will vary. Many
galleries provide beverages, food, live music, or a combination.
Where should I start the walk?
You can start the walk at any of the announced galleries. You can pick up a map of the entire walk at any gallery
you choose.
I'm an artist. How do I show my work?
We try to help all local artists participate in the First Thursdays Art
Walk. The best place to start is to enjoy the walk yourself. Meet
some of the curators and hosts of the galleries on the walk.
